Is Makeup A Lie?

We ladies love our makeup and the way it can transform an ordinary, dull face into a very attractive one. In recent times, makeup application has become an art that is very much in demand for special occasions of all types. Before and after pictures have flooded our social media timelines and the vast contrast between the two pictures of the same person have raised a pertinent question: is makeup a lie? Would a woman who puts on makeup every day be deceiving the people she comes in contact with especially the man who is in her life?

There is a simple answer to this: no. Makeup is not a lie. 

My reasons are very simple. First, we ladies wear makeup because it makes us look good, and looking good is not a crime. Some people are born with an uneven complexion, but a good blend of makeup can fix that, boosting self-esteem. A daring shade of lipstick is a statement of confidence anytime, any day. Eyeshadow is a wonderful invention that enables us to play with colors, creating a beautiful effect.

I love wearing makeup because it can transform my ordinary, everyday look into an extraordinary one. When I have to make an impression, I know exactly what colors to wear, and whether a simple or sophisticated look will work.

Contrary to the opinion of men, the women don't wear makeup for men. We wear it for ourselves because we like how it makes us look and feel at the end of the day. It is a way for us to be creative and artistic. Any man who is taken in by physical looks alone should not cry wolf when the makeup comes off because he should know that nobody looks that perfect naturally.

There is a sensible limit for everything, though, and makeup is not excluded. I believe that it should enhance a person's natural features, not mask them. Therefore makeup artistry should be a celebration of everything that is right with a woman's features, and not hiding her real face behind a plastic mask.
