John Cho exhibits Sulu is homosexual in 'Star Trek Beyond'

Star Trek Beyond will get a innovative new contact, in keeping with Megastar John Cho.

In the imminent film, his man or woman, Hikaru Sulu, is homosexual, according to the Herald Sun, and shown with a companion and daughter.

Director Justin Lin and author Simon Pegg made the call, Cho says, as a nod to brazenly gay actor George Takei, who famously played Sulu in the Star Trek franchise.

“I liked the method, which turned into no longer to make a massive factor out it, that is wherein I hope we are going as a species, to now not politicize one’s non-public orientations,” Cho instructed the Herald Sun.

Representatives for Cho have no longer but spoke back to Mashable's request for comment.

Star Trek Beyond will fly into theaters on July 22.
